| Both pieces by Tiffany and are found at the Met in New York Did/Been: Slept in. Did a mini-shift today at the shop filled with a bunch of admin stuff and unpacking new supplies. There were several desperate people that have been waiting on baited breath for the face paint for Halloween which meant some rummaging through the boxes was in order. I had a tin of Inktense pencils by Derwent on special order (which I'd never tried before, wee-hee! new supplies) so it made the unpacking a treasure hunt. We're starting to toss around the idea of organizing an art museum trip to Paris or New York. Got a bunch of photos from my mom's trip to New York recently, shown here. Bought some authentic Chinese food ingredients at the International grocery store and headed home. Made Chinese food and brownies. |
A new experience- Salted Duck eggs- they're boiled and preserved, wrapped prettily in red. Gah! Even too salty for me. I don't think they're meant to be eaten alone. Perhaps chopped in with something.
Back in the Studio- Testing out my Derwent Inktense pencils. This is a watercolor pencil on steroids. They grip the page and while that's nice for texture, feathers, and fur effects, I prefer something that goes on smooth like cream. When it comes to getting them wet, they really stand out. There's plenty of rich, bright pigment. They're not at all wimpy like most watercolor pencils.

Preserved duck eggs..Gah! ...You are brave!I was excited about the new Derwent pencils ... but now I'm disappointed. I would also like them to glide smooth as cream. When my mom had her arty gift shop, unpacking new boxes was better than christmas.
Ooo... I've got the Inktense pencils on my to-get list and very excited about them. They are sooo expensive here, so am waiting until our US trip in December to save. ;o) I prefer creamy supplies too, but I'll try anything. Art supplies whore? haha... Not sure about those duck eggs either, though fun to try for authentic Chinese food at home. TJ & I make sushi sometimes. Not always restaurant appearance maybe, but taste, definitely! Hahaha! I almost fell off my chair when I read about that duck eggs. It's not everyone cup of tea for sure, here we eat them with rice porridge, but i must say its an acquired taste..for the local, its normal, but if you are not Asian...its something else :)
