Transformation

"Transformation" 4x4 oil on canvas © Shayla Perreault Newcomb
Winter and Spring has been a time of transformation. Most people don't mention that a catapillar turns to mush while he goes through metamorphis. My winter 'cocooning' was painful, during which time we lost a cherished loved one. Coming out the other side of that has been life changing.

Somehow this blog hasn't felt right for a long time. Instead of random journal entries, I feel the call to offer something that could be more of help to others. What's the best way to help? Perhaps by not telling people what they need and instead letting people tell you what they need. Since people have been asking me about art techniques and how to get started, I'm going to start with that.

It will take time to come together. At first I just wanted to let go of this site, and reveal a brand new, perfect space with resources, videos and all kinds of goodies. Then I remembered that gradual momentum is better than "perfect", if there even is such a thing.

My next post will be on setting up your art space. If you sometimes struggle to create, it may not be your fault. It could be your studio. I found out that sometimes the way we've got our space set up can sap productivity, so I'll dish on a tip I figured out that fixes that.

Hi, Shayla! So great to see you back here! But how sorry I am your cocooning time meant some hardships and loss. I hope time will indeed ease the blows, and that happy memories will win over the sad ones. VERY excited about your new plans for your place here! I love tips, tutorials, videos, etc. Look forward to your posts on techniques especially. Since I've made a return to painting and work on canvas, I need all the help I can get... LOL! ;o) Like you, my own place has been changing, and I have felt the need to start something new to reflect better some of the changes. I still have some things in the works... it's an exciting time! Sounds like it is for you, too! Happy Summer Days, my friend :o) ((HUGS))

Tracy, so happy to connect with you again! I love the new changes at Pink Pearl and am thrilled the way friends on the same wavelength seem to grow and change at the same time.
If you ever want info on a specific technique, just let me know. Big hugs to you!

Glad to have you back in the blogosphere, Shayla!

Truama does naturally lead to renewal but that doesn't take the pain away at the time so I'm sorry for your loss & suffering. Today's painting speaks volumes.

The great thing about blogs is that you can transform them step by step :) Unveiling something completely new is fun but takes a huge amount of time so amen to your step by step :)

oops- was logged in as my hubby (Jason).

Wild C- Looking forward to your new e-course! I'll post a link on my blog. Thanks for the kind words.

DJ, thanks you're such a sweetie. You made me laugh. The sofa says "hi", and if you're ever in the Maritimes, you must stop by and visit.

Hi Shayla
Thanks for visiting my blog recently & leaving a lovely comment.

I think helping others is a lovely idea and your experience will be useful to others.

I like this canvas - it seems to have fiery deep depths that hold meaning. Powerful!

Kat :-)

Hi Shayla,
the illustration of the cocoon is good. I've been lagging in production & blogging. The thought of coming out as a butterfly is encouraging.
God bless you.
I'm looking forward to your future posts.
