10x20" "Fire and Rain", Gold foil and oil on canvas, copyright Shayla Perreault Newcomb |
My blog is severely constipated. I have paintings I haven't posted since last May and figured it's overdue to post a few. The above painting, "Fire and Rain", was one of the first to be finished in my new studio and fits with Illustration Friday's theme "Burning".
So far in the new house Jason has pulled out three spoons, a knife, and a pot scrubber all from the kitchen sink plus a shampoo cap from the tub pipes. Our plumbing is working much better now ;)

that painting is so beautiful Shayla!
I'm so glad you posted it :)
Gee whoever lived there before picked a strange place to store their cutlery..
Glad to see your painting.. It's lovely.
Yes, Darling, but priorities, you know:
What happened to my dear friend, the Purple Sofa ?????
:-)
Rich and yummy painting!
Blog constipation - that happens, especially when one moves and finds cutlery in the plumbing.
Aaahhh ....this painting appeals to me. Very striking!
The red sky is spectacular!
Liberty- thanks, sweetie. Glad to hear from you and share your good news :D
Gwen- lol, yeah they seemed to have an issue with drains.
DJ-hee, hee. You make me laugh. Your friend is contented in a room with 3 sets of French doors, a purple crystal door knob, an amethyst rock (from a friend) and a mini purple stained glass window from a friend. I got back some old art, brown, that looks like it was made for him. Sadly, he is missing a leg due to strenuous conditions of the move :( but otherwise feeling fine.
Leslie, thank you. Hah! No kidding.
Robyn, thank you :)
Terry, that is perylene scarlet. I was looking for a match for the Fish in Klimt's painting "GoldFish". I LOVE it!
Beautiful painting!
wow - powerful piece...so well done
stunning colours!
Glad to hear that at least your drains are no longer constipated :)
very lovely...btw...just read "What We Keep" too and loved it!! we are kindred souls in our choice of reading material
WoW! I mean, seriously WOW!
This is so cool - the red sky is just beautiful and the contrast with the buildings against the skyline is sensational.
This has got to be my favourite this week - brilliant work
trees! sorry, trees!
Seriously a beautiful painting. I feel like my blog is constipated too. Makes me a little grrrr personally, but than constipation can do that can't it?
Gorgeous piece as always! Great to see you posting your art again!
Beautiful Shayla!
haha! I feel exactly Shayla. You know I was sorting so many photos of a few events celebrated the past 2 months, and now it feels so late in posting some of them that I had to forgo. I was wondering what is the right words for it..constipated sound very right...doesnt sound nice, but right haha...love ya :)
The gold foil sparkle really dazzling... This painting really glows, Shayla... it is sensational! Very great to see something of your new work since being in your new studio. And very glad to hear your plumbing is now working better--hooray! Amazing the junk you've been pulling from the pipes though--scary, very scary... LOL! We travel to the US on Friday to be with family for Thanksgiving and celebrate birthdays--very excited! TONS to do, though... LOL! I hope to be posting & visiting again before we leave. Happy Days, my friend ((HUGS))
This is so gorgeous!
Great piece!
What!? How did they all get down there?
Is your new studio feeling like home now? You have certainly created a beautiful painting in it
: )
Anne, dtasse, thank you :)
Naomi- lol
Maron- I love finding kindred spirits especially in regard to books. If you ever want to share a recommendation, I'd be pleased to hear it :)
Alex- Thank you. By the way it's great you saw them as buildings. It has a similar feel/meaning to it especially if you're an urbanite, don't you think?
Sweet limes- ;)
Eva and Jack, thank you
M. Kate- hee, hee. Tends to happen with all those photos we take. Time for me to declutter I guess.
Tracy, thank you and have a wonderful time in the U.S.!
Mika, Juan, Thank you.
Jane, The sink is an old one with a large opening so cutlery can easily fall down it. We put drain guards over it and that fixed the problem. The last people here had a coat hanger by the sink that we assume was for fishing stuff out.
As for the studio, it feels more 'home' here than the last place. I'll be posting a video next week.
