Behind the Scenes- Yard Sale and Art Collecting

                     ©Patrick McFarlane 2012 posted with artist's permission

Here's the first piece in my art collection. Pat is taking an apprenticeship as a tattoo artist and being a great story teller, can entertain you on the history of tattoos. He's especially fond of the 1930's,  loves line, and has helped me realize that there is a field of fine art in tattoo. His flickr (I'll ask him for the link) account features many star artists and his perspective has been energizing.

Since we're moving to B.C. next week, I've been trying to get as much work from my favourite N.B. artists as possible. In total, I have 6 new pieces. Woo! Would I like more? Of course! I've got the collecting bug now and hope to add more favourite New Brunswick artists when possible.

You're invited to a massive yard sale this Saturday at 15 West Lane apt 6 (possibly indoors depending on weather) from 9:30 to 2:00 with some art supplies, lots of art books- mostly instructional, inspirational, collectible dolls, odds and ends for mixed media, easels, some studio furniture, vintage wooden coke crates etc.

my artwork won't be included in the yard sale

LOVE the art, Shayla! And do hope you get Pat's Flickr link...I'd love to see his tattoo art! I want a tattoo for my 40th birthday coming up later this year. Husband is frowning over that wish...LOL! ;o) WOW, the move to B.C. is happening??!! Hope the relocation will bring a new chapter for you both, new experience and new art. Wishing you all the best. I wish I was closer--I'd love to come for your yard sale! :o) Happy Spring, my friend ((HUGS))

What?!! You're moving to BC??! Maybe we'll end up being neighbours, by and by. I have to work this Saturday so won't be able to stop by your yard sale (not that I should buy anything as I'll have to have one of my own soon enough). I was so pleased to see your little piece of art on my kitchen wall when I got back from BC. I know what you mean about the joy of collecting other people's art work. Hopefully we'll keep in touch through blogging. If you have the time or desire to get together before you head west, give me a shout.
