October 12 diary post

Did/Been
Cleaned the shop front at Art Shack, taught several people today about the differences between student grade and professional paint, chatted with a regular about her upcoming art show, registered people for art classes and answered phones.
Back in the studio: Today was a newsprint paper day for art making- It's cheap, I don't feel the pressure to be brilliant. I made abstract energy marks that look like scribbles and are helpful for transitioning to home/studio and leaving all the busy energy of the day behind. A conte crayon works well for this. I find scribbling with pens still feels like office work.
Savored: green tea
How I felt: Satisfied. Felt areas of tension I didn't know were there disappear from my chest, temples and jaw. May do some more before bed.
Inspirations: Am thinking of using cake decorating tools in art. What do you think?
Serendipidy: Yesterday I was overwhelmed with my plans- big ones aren't so bad for me, but all the little ones. The radio alarm clock woke me up with a woman's voice that said "We cannot do everything at once, but we can do something at once." I automatically switched it off, then realized I might want to listen to the program. I turned it back on but all I could get was country music.
Closing Thought:It's easy to remember that exercise makes my body feel better and gives me more energy. I still forget that art does that too. That's something I want to take forward with me.
