Winter 2010

Since winter is my favorite season, despite the rough beginning, I had to get in one last post this year to welcome it.
To welcome winter:

1.Vivaldi, The four seasons, Winter
2. Cosy up to the fire.
3. Read some winter poetry.

I chose this one for those who may not be so keen on winter:

I HEARD A BIRD SING

I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December
A magical thing
And sweet to remember:
"We are nearer to Spring
Than we were in September,"
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December.
-Oliver Herford

Lastly I had some very exciting news this week. The New Brunswick Arts Board awarded me a creation grant for a new body of work. This was the fourth time I applied and I'm so excited, thrilled, ecstatic. I've already been over to ArtShack for some new supplies and have been experimenting with a stylus instead of a paintbrush. Yipee!

Congratulations on the grant, Shayla... tremendously exciting! So thrilled for you--hooray! :o) It has been very wintry here for weeks--snow, bitter cold, you name it... LOL! It's been so much so that I've not been out & about with my camera as much as usual, preferring semi-hibernation just now. ;o) Loved this winter goodness post. And thank you for the inspiration all year. Wishing you all the happiest holiday season & all the very best in 2011! ((HUGS))

Thank you very much for sharing the beautiful poem. I don't like the cold weather - so it is really, really nice to read such a sweet poem :)
