Vernissage

Jace and I saw a great vernissage yesterday of Amber Lounder and Diana Legèr's work.
Amber's pieces exude energy, are somewhat voyeristic, often sensual. She has a refreshing use of color. She uses a trowell to apply the paint.

Diana's pieces are colorful and reflect her joy in the observation of nature and the human body. Her flamenco dancer was a personal favorite.

For those that don't know, the term vernissage came from the varnish artists would put on their paintings the day of the hanging. That was the day that certain choice people would get a sneak peak at the exhibit.

The gallery director mentioned that some of them were still a little wet as they'd been finished not that long ago. So it was more like a vernissage in the original use of the word. Fun!
