Friends

Just wanted to say a quick, little 'hello.' This is a piece I just finished for a friend. It has a lot of textures from different papers, some silver stars, and the background is stamped with a tree stamp I carved myself.
The stamp isn't meant to have a lot of contrast so it doesn't show up that much. It does add a layer of depth that I quite like.
The birds say "friends" and the french word for friends "amies." These are the two official languages of Canada- although not that many Canadians speak French. Here in Moncton is the exception. Our house is the perfect example. I'm half English and half French, and Jason is half French half English. We speak both languages at home and even more often a mix of the two.
The little yellow bird represents day and the blue bird represents night.

I love the contrast of the little bird glowing golden and the other like a shadow.

Hi Shayla
This is a perfect painting!! Very beautiful and very meaningful. What is life without our family and the ones we love, and how can life be complete without good friends everywhere..both near and far!! Hugs :D

There is such deep beauty and harmony in this piece, Shayla. I love all the sublte layers and contrasts, brining it together as a lovely whole. There is such tenderness, love and care here...it indeed speaks of friendship and closeness. Yet I like the differences implie with the colors, nigth & days, signifying the differences between individuals and cultures, yet we are all one. Just fantastic! Thanks for sharing this special piece. Happy Day, my friend ((HUGS))

This is a wonderful piece in that it holds so many layers of meaning with a seemingly simple composition. I imagine your amie was thrilled to receive it.
